Thalanyji Oval
The Thalanyji Oval is situated on Third Avenue and was previously known as the Onslow Town Oval. It was renamed in acknowledgement of the local Indigenous population.
Thalanyji Oval a full-sized oval with four lighting towers for evening purposes and used by groups for the purpose of football, cricket and community events.
Onslow Community Garden
The Onslow School Garden was where the renowned community gardening culture began for Onslow. The Pilbara Health Network, Onslow Primary School and the Shire of Ashburton all pulled together to support the development of a school garden in 2005. The school garden was such a success that the community took the next step of setting up the Onslow Community Garden, which is thriving today and enables residents and visitors to share the pleasure of outdoor activity, wholesome food, art and craft and community spirit. Both gardens now provide the children with an outdoor classroom so they can benefit from plenty of physical activity and good nutrition whilst having fun.
Thalanyji Oval Playground
Recently upgraded and conveniently located in the centre of town, Thalanyji Oval Playground is an inclusively designed playground, providing diversity of play equipment and activities for children of all ages, guaranteed to entertain the kids! It is divided into two zones, the ocean and the land. Water fountains and shaded seating area is conveniently located close by for you to sit down and relax while the kids play.
Onslow Skatepark
Onslow Skatepark is located on Cameron Avenue and was built in 2012. It features an organic shaped bowl, drink fountains, a pump track, cantilever banks, vert walls and ledges, outdoor ping pong table, art features, hopscotch and foursquare. It is designed to cater for all ages and skill levels and is inspired by the local flora and fauna such as the iconic termite mounds the Pilbara is most famous for.
Onslow Water Spray Park
The Onslow Water Spray Park was built in 2011 and incorporates two different play zones to suit children of all ages. It features the iconic Ashburton Pea, a windmill, 3m long Spanish Mackerel, water cannons, ground spouts and a tipping loader bucket. Bring the family down for a splash and cool down in the warmer weather!
Tink St Playground
Tink St Playground is a quaint little park. Featuring a swing, climbing frame and footy posts. Relax under shaded seating area and enjoy a picnic.
Yungu Rd Playground
Yungu Rd Playground, nestled in the suburban area, is a popular dog walking park and play area for the local kids. It features a rope climbing frame and an inviting shaded seating area for you to relax and enjoy the serenity.
Onslow ANZAC Memorial
One of Onslow biggest drawcards, the Onslow ANZAC Memorial was established in 2008 and is a sculpture depicting the Australian Defence Force’s badge emblem of the Rising Sun. The sculpture is geographically positioned so that the rising sun shines directly through the arch at dawn every Anzac Day – a must see when in town!
Ian Blair Boardwalk
The Ian Blair Boardwalk is a 1km walkway from Back Beach Road over the sand dunes to Sunset Beach, designed and manufactured using recycled composite boards. The trail features 21 panels telling a story of Onslow’s historical events, native flora and fauna, interpretation of the local Aboriginal people, the Thalanyji and commemorates the life of Ian Blair, a West Australian policeman.
Front Foreshore Gym Equipment
Perched right on the Front Foreshore in Onslow is a variety of gym equipment for your everyday use. Stop in on your morning walk and enjoy your exercise with a view!
Beadon Creek Boat Harbour
The newly upgraded Beadon Creek Boat Harbour features an easily accessible boat ramp, designed for you to set off and explore the nearby islands, or simply cast a line off the jetty. Amenities include a public ablution block and fish cleaning station. Close by is Beadon Creek – one of the best creeks close to town for fishing, you're bound to reel in a catch at this unique location, which is home to Mangroves, trevally, bream, flathead, cod, Javelin and Threadfin Salmon. Along the rock wall is an ideal spot to target Pelagic and the odd Mangrove Jack.
Back Beach Park
Back Beach, or Sunset Beach, is located on Back Beach Road. It offers a shaded BBQ/picnic area, fish cleaning facility and is the best place in the North to watch the sun go down. Enjoy beach walks, fishing or shell collecting at this beautiful location.
4 Mile Beach
4 Mile beach is located 8kms from Onslow Town Centre. It is an ideal location for fishing and crabbing, and conveniently hosts a sheltered BBQ area where you can cook up your catch or just enjoy a picnic and relax.
Old Onslow
The Old Onslow Townsite is located 45kms south of Onslow and features stone buildings, which were once the police station, gaol and post office. Explore the remains and artefacts from the original townsite and enjoy reading its history, which is sign posted across 23 locations on the Old Onslow Heritage Trail.
Shell Museum
The Neil and Judy Baker Shell Museum, located on Third Avenue, is home to one of Australia’s largest seashell collection, 60 years in the making. The Shell Museum is open to the public in tourist season (April-September) on Saturdays from 10am-2pm, or via the hidden secrets tour run by the Onslow Visitors Centre.
Multipurpose Complex
Onslow Multipurpose Centre, located on McGrath Ave, is a popular space for community events. It includes a full-size sports gymnasium, basketball, indoor soccer, netball, badminton and volleyball courts. Added features include a rock-climbing wall, spectator seating, amenities and commercial kitchen for all your event's needs!
Onslow Multipurpose Enclosed Outdoor Courts
The impressive multipurpose outdoor courts provide the Onslow community with two undercover courts and one open-air court. It features quality night lighting, spectator viewing, scoreboards, umpire and scoring facilities. It is a prime location for events, to escape the hot Onslow sun and enjoy a game under some shade.
Onslow Business House
The Onslow Business House is conveniently located on the main strip of town. It is an ideal building for businesses visiting town. It features a full kitchen facility and rooms available for office space.
RM Forrest Hall
The RM Forrest Hall located in the centre of town is a popular space for formal and casual events. You will find a full commercial kitchen, chairs, tables, projector, podium stage, sound system and great lighting in this facility, perfect for all event needs.

The Onslow Aquatic Centre consists of a six lane 25m pool with an additional freeform beach entry area and water features, including massaging water jets and water/bubble fountains suitable for children and infants.
The Centre has a fully retractable shaded pool and lawn area as well as sun loungers to relax, a kiosk to purchase hot food, snacks and cold drinks, a pro-shop full of swim training equipment, indoor and outdoor showers, male/female and family changerooms. We also have a free electric BBQ facility, lush lawn areas to relax, kick a ball and friendly staff to help you with all your needs. Onslow Aquatic Centre is the perfect place to host a birthday party with free pool toys for entertainment and large inflatables for hire.
All of the Shire's swimming pools and aquatic centres are Royal Life Saving Society WA ‘Watch Around Water’ endorsed centres, and as such, conditions of entry apply.
