Free Harmony Week celebrations planned for Ashburton towns

The Shire will celebrate our diverse community with a range of free events.

Residents are encouraged to attend free events that will be held in Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica and Onslow in March to celebrate Harmony Week.

Each town will be collaborating with local businesses to bring together a collection of multicultural events, celebrating our diverse community.

Tom Price residents are invited to attend a Harmony Week celebration on Saturday, March 26 from 5:30pm-8:30pm. This free family event will take place at Doug Talbot Park and celebrate our diverse community through a variety of performances and activities such as live performances, cultural food, garden games and more.

Pannawonica residents are invited to head to The Rocks on Wednesday, March 23 for a Harmony Week Sundowner. The event will take place from 5:30pm and include live music from cultural band Eastwinds, plus Souvlucky, YB Grill and Red Dog Donuts food trucks.

In Paraburdoo, the Shire of Ashburton are collaborating with Karingal Neighbourhood Centre to deliver a Harmony Day Sundowner event on March 25. Hosted at the Memorial Gardens, residents are invited to come down from 5pm to enjoy live cultural performances, markets and activity stalls.

Onslow residents can celebrate Harmony Week on Saturday, March 26 at the Onslow Aquatic Centre. Kicking off from 3pm, attendees will enjoy free snacks and a sausage sizzle, on top of craft and pool fun.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said Council was committed to celebrating the culture and backgrounds of our community.

“Ashburton is a vibrant and multicultural community. From the oldest continuous culture of our first Australians to the cultures of our newest arrivals from around the world, we are lucky to live in such a diverse area of the world,” she said.

“By hosting a range of events to celebrate our diversity, we hope to encourage conversations surrounding culture and community.”
