Notice of Intention to Dispose of Land and Enter into a Major Land Transaction

As per Council resolution made at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on the 16 July 2024 and in accordance with section 3.58 and 3.59 of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Ashburton gives notice of its intention to dispose of property and enter into a major land transaction as detailed below:

1. Property Details

Part Lot 550 on Deposited Plan 414367, Onslow Road, Talandji (Reserve 53324) (Approx. 6 hectares). The site is within the Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility site.

2. Transaction Details

The Shire of Ashburton proposes to enter into a revised lease agreement with CD Dodd Pty Ltd to facilitate an expansion of their current site from approximately 4 ha to approximately 6 ha. The rent to be received from the lessee will be $150,000 p.a. (in accordance with market rent) subject to execution of the lease agreement. 

3. Further Information

The Shire of Ashburton has prepared a business plan in accordance with section 3.59 of the Local Government Act 1995 and regulation 10 of the Local Government (Functions and General) Regulations 1996. A copy of the business plan may be inspected or obtained from the either of the two Shire of Ashburton administration offices: 246 Poinciana Street, Tom Price WA 6751 or Lot 500 Second Avenue, Onslow, Western Australia, 6710. The business case can also be obtained via the Shire website at https://www.ashburton.wa.gov.au/publicnotices/.

4. Invitation for Public Submissions

If any person should wish to make a submission regarding the proposed land transaction, they are invited to make it in writing or by email, clearly marked “Submission - Lease of Portion of Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility” and:

  1. Closing Date for Public Submissions

All public submissions are to be made and received by the Shire of Ashburton before 4:30pm, 5 September 2024 (42 days from date of publication).
