Shire of Ashburton endorses the ‘My Pilbara Home’ Community Development Strategy 2024 – 2027

In a significant step toward fostering empowered, connected and inclusive communities, the Shire of Ashburton has endorsed the 'My Pilbara Home' Community Development Strategy 2024–2027. This strategy, developed through collaboration and comprehensive consultation, will serve as an overarching plan linking six key informing strategies:

  • Community Access and Inclusion Plan 2023–2027 (endorsed July 2023)
  • Youth Strategy 2023–2025 (endorsed April 2023)
  • Club Development Plan 2024–2027
  • Arts Strategy 2024–2027
  • Program and Events Strategy 2024–2027
  • Reconciliation Action Plan 2024–2025

The strategy aligns with the Shire’s commitment to enhancing safety, engagement and inclusiveness. It focuses on collaboration and capacity-building, providing a roadmap to support social, cultural and economic initiatives across the Shire’s unique towns - Tom Price, Onslow, Paraburdoo and Pannawonica.

President Smith says these strategies are a vital resource for the Shire and a roadmap for the coming years to create a connected and vibrant community.

"The 'My Pilbara Home' Strategy is a blueprint for building a more engaged, represented and resilient future for our region. Through collaboration with community members, businesses and stakeholders, we aim to enhance the quality of life in Ashburton by fostering a sense of belonging and promoting opportunities for all,” said President Smith.

The 'My Pilbara Home' Strategy not only supports the Strategic Community Plan 2022–2032 but also outlines key areas such as participation, volunteer recruitment, capacity building and collaboration.
