The public swimming pools, located in Pannawonica, Paraburdoo, Onslow and Tom Price are central to town and have become one of the most popular sporting and recreational facilities, especially during the summer months.

Grassed areas with trees cover the grounds of our aquatic facilities and a BBQ is available for pool patrons upon request. The swimming pools are also available for private functions including children's birthday parties outside of public hours, and interested parties are urged to discuss their requirements with the pool manager via the contact details.
Pool inflatables are also available for hire. Bookings are essential.
The pools are used for a variety of activities. These include:
- General use by the public
- School swimming classes
- Vacation swimming classes
- Learn to swim classes (conducted throughout the season)
- Amateur Swimming Club training and competition
- Water polo training and competition
- Aqua aerobics
- Adult Life Saving Classes
- Functions and party hire
- Pool parties
- Resuscitation classes
- Water orientation for infants up to 4 years old (conducted two to three times per season)
All activities conducted by the centre use fully qualified instructors and offer a high level of service to users. AUSTSWIM instructors with First Aid qualifications are used for private swimming lessons and water orientation classes. Activities such as aqua aerobics and mother and infant swimming classes are conducted when instructors are available. Pannawonica Swimming Centre
The Pannawonica swimming centre is located in the town centre and includes grassed areas with trees and a BBQ is available for pool patrons. The heated pool consists of a six lane 25m pool ranging from 1.0m deep at the shallow end to 1.8m at the deep end and a toddler pool with a uniform depth of 400mm. A sunshade covers the toddler pool and the main pool.
The swimming pool is also available for private functions including children's birthday parties. Bookings essential and can be made through the Town Office or via email to [email protected] or calling 9184 1296.
Paraburdoo - Quentin Broad Swimming Pool
The Quentin Broad Swimming Pool consists of a six lane 50m pool ranging from 1.1m deep at the shallow end to 1.8m at the deep end and a substantial baby pool with a uniform depth of 150mm. A sunshade covers the baby pool and half the main pool.
Onslow Aquatic Centre
The Onslow Aquatic Centre consists of a six lane 25m pool with an additional freeform beach entry area with water features including massaging water jets and water/bubble fountains suitable for children and infants.
The centre has a fully retractable shaded pool and lawn area as well as sun loungers to relax, a kiosk to purchase hot food, snacks and cold drinks, a pro-shop full of swim training equipment, indoor and outdoor showers, male/female and family change rooms. We also have a free electric BBQ facility, lush lawn areas to relax, kick a ball and friendly staff to help you with all your needs. Onslow Aquatic Centre is the perfect place to host a birthday party with free pool toys for entertainment and large inflatables for hire.
Tom Price - Vic Hayton Memorial Swimming Pool
Rated as one of the top 10 public pools in Australia in 2022 by The Guardian, the Vic Hayton Memorial Swimming Pool is the perfect place to cool off on those hot WA days. Journalist Caitlin Cassidy praised our pool, noting, "For those hot WA days, the pool has recently been equipped with colourful shade sails covering the babies pool and half of the main pools, and boasts a barbecue for warm summer evenings."
Our facility offers a range of amenities to ensure a fun and enjoyable visit for everyone. Dive into our poolside activities with a basketball hoop and a playground for the kids. Visit our kiosk for a variety of snacks and drinks, or stop by the pro-shop for all your swim training needs. Our changing rooms, complete with showers, cater to all visitors, with dedicated male, female, and family changerooms, the latter equipped with a baby change-table and facilities for those with assisted needs.
For those who prefer to relax, our sun beds are perfect for lounging with a good book or simply soaking up the warm weather.

Royal Life Saving Society WA ‘Watch Around Water’
All of the Shire's swimming pools and aquatic centre’s are Royal Life Saving Society WA ‘Watch Around Water’ endorsed centres, and as such, the following conditions of entry apply:
- Children under 5 years must be accompanied into the centre by a responsible adult and supervised within arm’s reach at all times
- Children under 10 years must be accompanied into the centre by a responsible adult and supervised within line of sight at all times
- Children 10 years and older, parents must use their knowledge of the child’s swimming ability and development to determine the level of supervision required
- Groups won’t be admitted where the number of parents/caregivers supervising a group of children under 5 years exceeds 1:4
- Groups won’t be admitted where the number of parents/caregivers supervising a group of children under 10 years exceeds 1:10
- Unsupervised child of poor swimming ability regardless of age will be removed from the water if the staff member is concerned for the safety of that child
