Banjima Drive Closure for Sealing Works

Published on Friday, 20 June 2014 at 12:00:00 AM

Please be advised the planned first stage of the sealing works for the Banjima Drive project has been scheduled to commence Monday 7 July 2014 and will take three (3) to four (4) days to complete. There will be two other closures for the second and third stages of the sealing works expected late in July and potentially early August.

During the 7 - 10 July 2014 for stage 1, Banjima Drive will be closed to through traffic from the end of the seal (approximately at the 10km mark) to the limits of the project (20km mark). Access to the Park will be via the east access road off Karinjini Drive during this time.

Your co-operation and patience during this time would be appreciated as the seal treatment does require the exclusion of traffic.

It is intended to position variable message board signs to the east and west of the west entrance (Banjima Drive) off Karijini Drive and at the 26Km mark at the junction of the Weano Road/east-west fo the Information Centre and an advisory will be posted on the Shire of Ashburton’s web page.

It is important for the tour operators to access Weano Gorge or Eco Retreat via the detour to the east Park access road and then along the east-west connecting road. Eco Retreat and Karijini National Park visitors information centre should advise visitors of the detour.

Access for any movement of heavy plant and equipment via the Mt Bruce Road during this time will be an exception. All emergency services have access via the detour to the east Park access road and along the east-west connecting road or in exceptional circumstances through the road sealing works.

Please refer to the map below.
