The 40th Anniversary Nameless Jarndunmunha Festival will officially kick off in Tom Price on July 29 with a Black Tie Ball. The following week will see a variety of exciting events, including a concert by Diesel with supporting act Stone Circle, People’s Exhibit, Street Parade and more.
Preparations are now well underway for the festival which will continue over the weekendof 5, 6 and 7 August. The festival takes its name from Mount Nameless / Jarndunmunha meaning 'place of rock wallabies' by the Eastern Guruma people, traditional land owners of the area surrounding Tom Price.

The Festival is pleased to announce Rio Tinto as principal partner, Shire of Ashburton as major supporter and a number of other local businesses who have all once again committed their support to ensure that the Festival is a success for local and surrounding communities.
This year Tom Price is celebrating 40 years of the Festival which was first held in 1971 as a one day show made up entirely of novelty events. From there it has progressed into a week-long event held at the end of July through to the first weekend in August
The Festival will open with the Nameless Jarndunmunha Ball on the 29 July, a black tie event with entertainment by TopKats. The week leading up to the Festival will be highlighted by workshops in Aboriginal painting, acrylic painting and photography. The Festival starts on Friday 5 August at 5:00 pm and closes on Sunday 7 August at 3:00 pm. Other activities include children’s entertainers Lulu, Motor X exhibition, fashion parade and a street parade where local community groups and schools decorate floats in the theme of the Festival. There are also over 70 stalls, sideshows, art exhibition, fireworks spectacular, circus tent, painting of umbrellas, jewellery workshop - just to highlight some a few.
The People’s Exhibit will be held in the Community Centre (Tamarind Street, Tom Price). Entries need to be submitted by Sunday 31 July and judging will take place on Tuesday 2 August. A wine and cheese evening will be held on Thursday 4 August for all contestants and their families to announce the winners. The Festival is pleased to welcome Corrine Rapley back to Tom Price to judge this year’s competition and conduct acrylic painting workshops.
The Festival is excited to announce that Diesel will be performing at the Oval on Saturday 6 August with Stone Circle as the opening act. Some 25 years ago in Perth, singer-guitarist Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel) finalised the line-up for his band at that time, Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. Within a matter of months they were on their way across the Nullarbor, blitzing it live and heading for a national top 3 album chart debut. In those intervening years since leaving Perth, he has sold in excess of 800,000 records and become a household name, known simply as ‘Diesel’. Now in 2011 and celebrating his alter ego’s silver jubilee, Diesel has released a brand new album. Titled ‘Under The Influence’, the album is dedicated to his musical heroes presenting some familiar songs in ways you’ve never heard before - it’s Diesel in as good a form as you’ve ever heard him! This is not an evening to be missed. The area surrounding the stage for this concert will be enclosed due to the operation of a bar. This event therefore will be a R18+ event into the enclosure.
Sunday is family day with events planned such as Tug-of-War, wall climbing, lucky dips, face painting, big breakfast, and fun family races.
